If either you or your wife are comfortable opening the laptop simply remove the CMOS battery, wait a few minutes, put the battery back in, and start the computer. As the computer begins to boot repeatedly tap the F2 key and you should be into setup. Keep in mind you will have to manually reset the date, time, and possibly a few other things. If that doesn't work try booting from the cd/dvd drive if you have a copy of Windows.
