Girlfriend has issues with PDA.?

Alright first off, i like this girl very much and i'm more than willing to look past this PDA-phobia. However, i've always been a person who likes to show his affection towards his girlfriend in public and when the time is appropriate, i do so. I'm not talking about love making here, i'm talking about a little kiss or even holding hands. She'll literally yank my hand away if i grab hers. But when we're alone she's a completely different person. Extremely affectionate. My question is, can i break her of this? And if so, how?
