Space ship velocity in empty space?

A spaceship is located in a desolate point in space where nothing is visible ( no stars-just black space) The ship is accelerated at 1G for 10 hrs and the engines are cut off. Does the velocity of the ship immediately drop to zero ? Is there anyway to determine the velocity without reference objects?
